American Steele Plantation side saddle, XW built on Western bars rather than a traditional side saddle tree. Not re-enforced for jumping but plenty robust enough for trailing riding and flat showing. It was fitted by the late Roger Philpot to my traditional cob who takes a 34cm XW tree as a starting point.
Seat 16" long from centre of cutback to centre of cantle. 13" wide. Adjustable pommels allow the length to be altered from 20" to 22" and are both adjustable for better leg fit. Gullet is 3" wide. Cutback 6". Suede seat and both the fixed head and leaping horn are suede lined. Saddle has original balance strap, stirrup leather and stirrup.
The saddle has knocks and bumps here and there but is sound and ready to ride. The seat does have a rub on it (see photo). You are most welcome to see the saddle in person (Tanworth in Arden) for £10 payable to the yard owner, you are welcome to bring your own horse and try the saddle on the gallop or in the school.
